Notice: It is with deep regret I write this. In the past two months our material costs have skyrocketed. Two months ago I absorbed those increases. Last week I ordered the material we use to make the ‘wings’. Their cost went up 15% from a few months ago. Today I ordered the material to make the Hoofwings bases. Their cost went up by 30%! I cannot absorb any more price increases. Therefore, we are forced to increase the price for a pair of Hoofwings. I am increasing the prices by 10%. I hope, for the time being, that will be enough to stay in business. If the costs of our materials ever come down we will certainly lower our prices.

Hoofwings are semi-custom and fully custom hoof boots designed to protect equine hooves in a wide variety of terrains. Made by experienced makers since the 1980s, Hoofwings are built for comfort and durability.

Materials & Care

Hoofwings are constructed using composite bases and custom-molded wings. Clean regularly and inspect for wear. For long life, avoid prolonged exposure to chemicals and store dry.

How Hoofwings Work

Perfect Fit Matters

Horse hoof boots work only as well as they fit. The faster the gait a horse is ridden or driven, the better the boots must fit. To help us make Hoofwings the best fitting hoof boots, our customers provide us with outlines, measurements and photos of their horses hooves.

We use the outlines to determine which Hoofwing base will provide the best fit. We use the measurements to custom make each wing. If none of the standard size bases fits your horse, you can order a custom made base.

Currently, there are thirty-four different size bases. Nineteen are draft horse sizes. Six of those are shaped for hind hooves. Hoofwings are handmade.

Support for Laminitis & Healing

Hoofwing horse boots reduce the pain from laminitis. Their smooth firm interior helps the horse walk. Walking increases blood circulation that is necessary for healing.

Horses also benefit from the total protection Hoofwings provide — no more stone bruising or snow balling. Use Hoofwings when trail riding, driving or to help a horse transition from shod to barefoot.

Shock Absorption & Natural Movement

Hoofwing bases contain thousands of air bubbles that absorb concussion. The air bubbles also make Hoofwings lightweight — they won’t alter your horse’s gaits.

The open design of the base allows dirt, sand and water to escape. The wings are made from breathable materials so you can leave them on your horse 24/7.

Horsehair embedded on the inside of the wings reduces friction and helps keep hooves clean. If you must apply medication, the bandages stay clean longer.

Customization & Long-Term Value

Removable snow studs are available for extra traction. Custom colors can be ordered. Hoofwings are cost effective because they are used only when needed — the wings can be repaired or replaced.

When terrain is favorable and if your horse’s hooves are conditioned to being barefoot, you may ride without boots. This reduces the need for frequent trimming and helps understand how hooves naturally wear.
